Tuesday Truth (on a Friday) John 15:15-17
John 15:15-17
“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit- fruit that will last- and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.”
Let that sink it- Jesus considered his disciples to be His friends, not servants, but Friends! He adds to that- He made known all that He learned from the Father. The “open-ness” here strikes me. There is no secrecy or guessing. Instead, it is “open book.”
Then, quite possibly the best part:
They did not qualify for this position. They did not achieve it by some great action, by their job or by their genealogy. Instead, he chose them, and for a reason.
He also chooses us. He left the 99 for the 1. He calls us sons and daughters. He calls us to love those around us.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your word- for the example of your son and His disciples. Thank you for choosing us, for calling us not just friends, but sons and daughters. Thank you for your perfect love.
We love you,
Amen
